Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix. The symptoms are pain in the belly button area which in the end will move in the right side of the lower abdomen and will be much worse, low graded fever, nauseas and sometimes even vomiting, loss of appetite and constipation or diarrhea. Some people might not have all these symptoms and some might not have any of them, but still have appendicitis. If one who suffers from appendicitis pain does not seek medical help immediately, the appendix will just burst within time. Bear in mind that appendicitis pain does not go away by just swallowing on pain killers.
The pain will start of like bad gas and then turn into very severe pain and only by removing the appendix will the pain be relieved completely. When the appendix burst, although the pain at the abdomen might go away, but the condition of the person is worsen as he/she will be in a deadly situation as when the appendix burst, it will release pus and infectious organisms into the abdominal cavity.
Treatment:
1. The surgical treatment for appendicitis consists of a procedure called appendectomy. In uncomplicated forms of appendicitis, appendectomy is a simple surgical intervention. Most patients respond well to the surgical treatment for appendicitis and they fully recover within a few weeks after the operation. However, if the treatment for appendicitis is delayed, the chances of recovery are considerably diminished.
2. Herbal treatment for appendicitis means sustaining the recovery after the surgical intervention; it cannot replace surgery by any chance. If you suspect appendicitis in you or your child call a doctor immediately.
3. Soak a clean towel in hot water and apply a hot compress to the painful area several times a day to relieve cramping and inflammation. Massage almond oil over the painful area after removing the compress. Almond oil is used by massage therapist to relieve pain and by aromatherapists to help calm the body.
4. Drink fresh, natural fruit and vegetable juices on the third day, but continue to avoid solid foods until the symptoms have disappeared completely. Increase your food intake gradually to prevent shock to your delicate and recuperating system. Begin first with soups, yogurt and other easily digested foods, avoiding meat, grains and processed cheeses for at least two weeks.
5. Certain vegetable juices, especially carrot juice, in combination with the juices of beets and
cucumbers, have been found valuable in the treatment of appendicitis. Regular use of tea made
from fenugreek seeds has also proved helpful in preventing the appendix from becoming a
dumping ground for excess mucous and intestinal waste.
The patient of appendicitis should adopt all measures to eradicate constipation, if it is habitual.
6. The general suggestions of the doctor may be: follow a diet, using the mild laxative for the first few days, drinking water, avoiding lifting heavy objects and stair climbing and regular gentle exercises. The appendix is a redundant organ and the human body can manage well without it. If the appendix is entirely removed the appendicitis will not show again
